I. Động từ là gì?

Động từ là một thành phần thiết yếu không thể lược bỏ trong câu, thường được dùng để chỉ về hành động, trạng thái hay sự xuất hiện của con người hay một sự vật, hiện tượng nào đó. Hầu hết các bài tập chia động từ sẽ hay xuất hiện trong các kỳ kiểm tra, kỳ thi, để có thể làm tốt được những bài tập này hãy cùng WISE ENGLISH nhé!

II. Các loại động từ trong câu

Dưới đây là 5 dấu hiệu để làm bài tập chia động từ

1. Nội động từ (Intransitive Verbs)

Nội động từ (Intransitive Verbs) là những động từ thường mà bản thân nó đã mang đầy đủ ý nghĩa, không tác động trực tiếp lên đối tượng nào khác cả, những động từ này sẽ không có tân ngữ theo sau và không dùng ở thể bị động.

E.g: Every night he sleeps at 10 p.m.

Một số nội động từ thường gặp: rain (mưa), walk (đi bộ), sleep (ngủ), seem (có vẻ), come (đến,đi), live (sống), happen (xảy ra),…

2. Ngoại động từ (Transitive Verbs)

Ngoại động từ (Transitive Verbs) là các động từ thường mà loại từ mà theo sau nó luôn được sử dụng với tân ngữ (tân ngữ có thể là danh từ, cụm danh từ, đại từ) nhằm diễn tả người hoặc vật bị tác động bởi một hành động của động từ. Nếu thiếu tân ngữ câu sẽ không hoàn chỉnh.

Một số ngoại động từ thường gặp: bring (mang theo), eat (ăn), love (yêu), hate (ghét), buy (mua), make (làm), praise (khen),…

3. Động từ nối (Linking Verbs)

Động từ nối (Linking verbs) hay còn gọi là liên động từ, là một trong những động từ thường dùng để nối vị ngữ với chủ ngữ, trong đó vị ngữ có thể là tính từ chỉ tính chất của một sự vật, sự việc hay người nào đó.

Các động từ nối trong tiếng Anh thường gặp: appear (xuất hiện), smell (có mùi), taste (có vị), look (trông như,nhìn), sound (nghe như),…

4. Trợ động từ (Auxiliary Verbs)

Trợ động từ (auxiliary verbs) được hiểu là một số động từ có thể giúp các động từ khác hình thành các thể nghi vấn, phủ định để nhấn mạnh hay hình thành 1 số thì.

Có 12 trợ động từ trong tiếng Anh: be, have, do, can, shall, will, may, must, need, ought (to), dare, used (to).

5. Động từ khuyết thiếu (Modal Verbs)

Động từ khuyết thiếu là những động từ có chức năng bổ sung nghĩa cho động từ chính, được dùng để diễn tả khả năng, dự định, cấm đoán hoặc sự cần thiết,…

Những động từ khuyết thiếu phổ biến bao gồm: can/could, would, shall, should, ought to, must, have to, may/might, had better, need, would rather, used to.

III. Công thức của động từ trong câu

1. Công thức chung

S + V + O

Động từ thường đứng sau chủ ngữ, đằng sau động từ có thể đi cùng tân ngữ hoặc không đi cùng tùy thuộc vào các loại động từ khác nhau. Đây là cấu trúc cơ bản cần ghi nhớ khi gặp tất cả các dạng bài tập về động từ trong tiếng Anh.

2. Cách chia động từ trong tiếng Anh

• Cách chia V-ed: Hình thức chia V-ed thường được dùng để chia động từ ở thể quá khứ hoặc tạo ra quá khứ phân từ (Past Participle).

Ví dụ:

• talk →talked
• like → liked
• study → studied

→ Chú ý: Khi gặp vài trường hợp động từ bất quy tắc trong một số dạng bài tập về động từ ở thì quá khứ thì chúng ta không chia theo hình thức V-ed mà tùy vào từng thì ta có bảng sau:

Bên cạnh đó còn có một số động từ 2 âm tiết tận cùng bằng 1 nguyên âm + 1 phụ âm và động từ được nhấn mạnh (stressed) ở âm tiết cuối –> Gấp đôi phụ âm cuối trước khi thêm ed. Ví dụ: to stop –> stopped

• Cách chia V-ing: được hình thành để tạo nên hiện tại phân từ (present participle), trong các thì tiếp diễn và để tạo thành động danh từ (Gerund).

Ví dụ:

• walk → walking
• love → loving
• say → saying
