When can I get a 2023 Ram?

Model Preview

The current Ram 1500 came out in 2019 as part of the pickup truck’s fifth generation. Entering its fifth model year on sale, Ram is preparing to come out with a refreshed model. An all-electric Ram Evolution variant is expected to arrive for the 2024 model year.

The Ram 1500 has one of the more premium designs in the full-size pickup truck class. We’re not sure what exterior changes Ram will make for the 2023 model year, but we expect exterior lighting to be updated, the design of the grille to change, and small updates to the bumpers. Being a pickup truck, there’s only so much an automaker can do to make it look radically different. We expect the 2023 model to continue to be available with a large amount of chrome and have subtle body lines with a premium feel.

While the Ram 1500 was one of the first pickup trucks to have a luxurious cabin, others in the segment have caught up. We expect the 2023 model year to arrive with a more high-end look, more high-quality materials, and range-topping trims that further push the truck into luxury territory. We expect things to mostly stay the same for lower trims, which should continue to have large analog controls and sturdy materials.

Against newer rivals, the 1500’s tech features don’t look as impressive as they once did. The current model comes standard with a five-inch touchscreen, six audio speakers, and Bluetooth. Available tech features include an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a 12-inch touchscreen, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

Ram offers the current 1500 with four different powertrains. A 3.6-liter V6 engine is standard, while a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6, a 5.7-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8 engine are available. Power ranges from 305 horsepower up to 702 hp. All engines come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. We don’t expect these engines to change, beyond some minor upgrades at the most. We could see Ram bolster the 1500’s capabilities, as the current truck is rated to tow up to 12,750 pounds and haul up to 2,300 pounds. These figures trail rivals.

We expect the 2023 Ram 1500 to arrive with more standard safety features. A rearview camera is the only noteworthy standard feature on the current model. Available features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, park assist, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.

For the past few years, the Ram 1500 has set the standard regarding tech, comfort, and convenience. Best of all, this truck isn’t done yet as it continues to add advanced features that you shouldn’t ignore. Check out how the 2023 Ram 1500 fights germs.

We’re totally geeking out over the 2023 Ram 1500 and its unique updates. For example, the Ram Red Edition has returned with a new trick. The glove box has a UV-C light that kills bacteria.

Place an item in the glove box, then press a button on the center console. The light turns on for three minutes to kill pathogens such as bacteria, molds, viruses, and fungi. We would be out there all day disinfecting things.

You can put whatever fits in there to be disinfected. Go ahead and clean your keys, toothbrush, phone, action figures, dog leash, and whatever else should be germ-free.

2023 Ram: What else is new?

Aside from the UV-C glove box, the 2023 Ram 1500 has more tech. According to AutoBlog, the rear-seat reminder alert and LED hitch lamp in the tailgate handle are now standard across the entire lineup.

Each model above the Tradesmen trims gets a new 12-inch frameless digital gauge cluster. The gauges can be viewed in digital or analog form. Plus, you can customize five tiles and nearly 24 menus to your personal preferences.

If you opt for the 12-inch Uconnect 5 system, then you’ll get access to the Stellantis Emergency Vehicle Alert system. It lets distracted drivers know that an emergency vehicle is approaching.

Plus, the Ram 1500 Rebel has standard Selec-Speed control. This feature was borrowed from the Ram TRX and Jeep Gladiator. It’s basically off-road cruise control while four-wheel low is engaged.

Also, the Off-Road Group is available with the Big Horn, Lone Star, Laramie, and Limited trims. The Laramie and Limited trims get 22-inch all-terrain tires.

The new Limited Elite Edition adds a jeweled gear shifter, heated steering wheel, bed extender, cargo tie-downs, a cargo divider, side steps, the multi-function tailgate, ventilated bucket seats, and a unique digital gauge cluster theme.

Last but not least, the RED Edition also has red lettering on the grille, doors, and center console. It helps Stellantis pledge to help the Global Fund fight health emergencies in partnership with the non-profit RED.

How much will the 2023 Ram 1500 cost?

The official 2023 Ram 1500 price hasn’t been released yet. It’s expected to start around $37,000, and you should be able to place an order by the end of the year.

The 2022 Ram truck starts at $36,500. The price may increase by a few hundred bucks to cover the cost of new tech and inflation.

Some feel as if it’s time for the Ram 1500 to gain a mid-cycle refresh with a revised style and updated interior. However, this truck still has the most comfortable seats, an attractive layout, and a confident exterior style.

This truck dominates as one of the best available options and certainly doesn’t feel old. Plus, new updates could come out during 2023. Stay tuned for the latest updates.
