While he actual device worked reasonably well, the software was fairly useless and I had to download freeware to make it work.

5.0 out of 5 stars The definitive review...

A lot of people have written about their bad experiences with this device. It all seems to concern the software, and I would have to concur. I didn't even bother with the included software because I've experienced it before. Here are some steps to get it working. Step 1: Plug it in directly. If you need to use an extension usb cord, be sure its a high quality one. Windows 10 will see it and install the driver automatically. Step 2: take the included disc and throw into nearest trash can, it's worthless. Step 3: Download and install OBS Studio. It's free, it will recognize almost any type of video capture device you connect and it will allow you to tweak the video to your liking (brightness, contrast, aspect ratio, resolution, etc) You may need to watch a couple tutorial videos on how to use it but trust me, it's well worth it. As for the video quality, you get out what you put in. If the device is outputting a poor signal or if it's just a poor condition tape, that's what you'll get. For me, it does its job. I really just want to capture some sort of digital copy of my old tapes before they degrade and are lost forever and this allows me to do it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pagas poco, obtienes poco.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Issues at All !!

Worked like a charm, had no issues, no problems. Not sure about others reviews, but I used the little disc for the drivers, took about a minute. Produced equal quality in a small file format. Not a lot for editing features, but I'm lucky to have an old Windows 7 PC with Movie Maker, the best I've ever used. Windows 10 editing features don't quite do it for me, but still give a lot of options to work with. I think it was under $20 and well worth it, all my 20+ year old VHS footage is saved !!
