Need a 2023 Broadcast Calendar? Fun fact – 2023 is a “leap year” on the Broadcast Calendar! Choose from PDF, PNG, JPEG, DOC, and PPT formats below. Or create your own custom 2023 Broadcast Calendar using one of our free templates.

These Broadcast Calendar designs are modern and clean – ideal for inclusion in your own presentations!

What is a Broadcast Calendar?

When advertising on broadcast television or radio, you do your media planning and media buying on a special advertising industry calendar called the “Broadcast Calendar.”

On the Broadcast Calendar, every week starts on a Monday and ends on a Sunday.  Every month also starts on a Monday, ends on a Sunday, and is either exactly four weeks long [28 days] or five weeks long [35 days]. No dangling days on broadcast months!

Any good media buying software or media planning software should handle switching back and forth between the broadcast calendar and our standard Gregorian calendar.

Be Careful – 2023 is a “Leap Year” on the Broadcast Calendar! 👀

Normally, every broadcast quarter is exactly 13 weeks, and the broadcast year is exactly 52 weeks. Not 2023 – it’s special! 🦄

January 1, 2023 falls on a Sunday, the last day of the broadcast week. This accelerates the start of the 2023 broadcast year to December 26, 2021. This early start makes the 2023 Broadcast Year exceptionally long. In fact, we need an extra broadcast week to cover the entire year.

As a result, 2023 is a “Leap Year” on the Broadcast Calendar. 2023 has 53 broadcast weeks instead of the standard 52 weeks. And the fourth quarter of 2023 has 14 broadcast weeks instead of the standard 13 weeks.

So, be careful to use a correct broadcast calendar when media planning and media buying in 2023. We hope you find the following calendars to be useful.

How to Customize Your 2023 Broadcast Calendar

Don’t like the colors or layout of our broadcast calendars? No problem – we encourage you to customize the Microsoft Word and PowerPoint 2023 Broadcast Calendars.

In fact, we made it super easy to customize the colors using Microsoft office themes. Instead of wasting a lot of time manually coloring every cell, you should instead just change the theme colors to find which theme works best for you.

Here are Microsoft’s instructions for working with theme colors:

  • Choose a standard color theme
  • Create your own color theme

You can change the size of the paper and the margins on the Word format. The Broadcast Calendar should automatically resize itself to fit the available space.
