1. Make a point có nghĩa là gì?

Khi muốn diễn đạt làm việc gì đó quan trọng hoặc nêu rõ quan điểm, ý kiến về vấn đề nào đó ta sử dụng cụm từ Make a point . Make a point có thể hiểu là nêu rõ, nhấn mạnh, quan trọng.

Ví dụ:

2.1.Cấu trúc Make + somebody + do sth [Sai khiến ai đó làm gì]

Ví dụ:

+ He makes her do all the housework. [Anh ta bắt cô ấy làm hết việc nhà]

+ The teacher makes her students go to school early. [Giáo viên bắt học sinh của mình đi học sớm].

- Đây là một cấu trúc sai khiến phổ biến. Nó thường được sử dụng trong giao tiếp cũng như trong các đề thi.

2.2.Cấu trúc Make + somebody + to verb [buộc phải làm gì]

Ví dụ:

+ Don’t make me cry [Đừng làm tôi khóc]

+ She makes me go out. [Cô ấy bắt tôi ra ngoài]

- Cấu trúc nàythường ở dạng bị động chuyển thể từ cấu trúc trên. Khi muốn sai khiến ai đó làm gì ở thể chủ động, ta dùng cấu trúc “Make sb do sth”. Trongcâu bị động, sử dụng dùng cấu trúc “Make sb to do sth”.

Ví dụ:

+ My teachermakesme do homework. [Giáo viên của tôi bắt tôi làm bài tập]

=> I am made to do homework . [Tôi bị buộc phải làm bài tập].

2.3.Cấu trúc Make + sb/sth + adj [làm cho]

Trong giao tiếp tiếng Anh, người ta thường sử dụng cấu trúc này.

Ví dụ:

+ The film makes me sad. [Bộ phim làm tôi buồn]

+ He makes me happy [Anh ấy làm tôi hạnh phúc]

2.4.Cấu trúc Make + possible/ impossible

a. Cấu trúc Make it possible/impossible [for sb] + to V

Nếu trong câu theosau make là to Vthìphải thêm it đứng giữa make và possible/impossible.

Ví dụ:Phân tích câu dưới đây:

The new motobike make possible to go to school easily and quickly.

=> Ta thấy theo sau make cóto V [to go], vì vậy taphải thêmitvào giữamakevàpossible.

=> Vì vậy câu đúng phải là: The new motobike make it possible to go to school easily and quickly.

b. Cấu trúc Make possible/ impossible + N/ cụm N

Cấu trúc này ngược lại hoàn toàn với cấu trúc make possible ở trên.

Nếu theosaumake là một danh từ hoặc cụm danh từthì “tuyệt đối”không đặt it ở giữa make và possible/impossible.

Ví dụ:

The Internet makes possible much faster communication. [Internet giúp giao tiếp nhanh hơn].

=> DoFaster communicationlà một cụm danh từnên tadùng make possible.
