Does Spotify show what I listen to on my phone

The year is coming to a close, and for music fans, that means the launch of Spotify Wrapped.

The streaming service today dropped its annual wrap-up of the most popular music and podcasts from the year, as well as the personalized Wrapped experience that offers members a rundown of the songs, artists, genres, and podcasts they listened to most in 2021.

This year, Wrapped is a mobile-only experience. On your iOS or Android phone, head to spotify.com/wrapped, which will open Wrapped inside the Spotify app. Tap "See how you listened in 2021" to launch a Stories-like overview of your 2021 listening habits.

Spotify adds a few new features to the personalized 2021 Wrapped:

  • 2021: The Movie This section of Wrapped gives you your own personalized movie soundtrack [opening credits, the song playing as you face off against rival, etc.]

  • Your Audio Aura Based on your top two music moods.

  • Playing Cards Spotify brings a shareable "two truths and a lie" to Wrapped, seeing if you can guess which statements about your listening habits are true and which one is false.

  • 2021 Wrapped BlendSpotify is bringing its Blend shared-playlist feature to Wrapped so you can compare your music tastes with friends, stream their blended playlists and share the results on social media.

Spotify fans are eager to share their Wrapped results every year, and in 2021, the music-streaming service is embracing the latest social juggernaut and allowing people to share Wrapped cards on TikTok, in addition to Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

In the Wrapped hub on the Spotify app, meanwhile, you'll find a number of personalized and more general playlists for 2021. Groove to your top songs of 2021 and listen to podcasts and songs featuring your favorite artists via the Your Artists Revealed playlist.

Spotify also teamed up with 170 artists who made videos thanking fans for listening to them in 2021. You'll see these videos if any of the 170 are in your Top Songs 2021 or Your Artists Revealed playlists. Podcast hosts will also be adding thank you clips to their show pages.

Spotify's Most Popular Artists and Songs in 2021

What's everyone else listening to? It was a big year for Olivia Rodrigo, whose song "drivers license" was the most streamed song globally in 2021; "good 4 u" landed at number four. Her album SOUR, meanwhile, was the most streamed album globally.

Rodrigo didn't make the cut for most streamed artists, though. The top five there are Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, BTS, Drake, and Justin Bieber. On the podcast front, listeners tuned in most to The Joe Rogan Experience, Call Her Daddy, Crime Junkie, TED Talks Daily, and The Daily. Check out the full lists for all categories below.

Throwback Hits

It's not all current, top 40 hits on Spotify, though. Streamers got nostalgic with "throwback songs" [defined as songs or albums released more than 20 years ago]. Favorites in 2021 included Fleetwood Mac, Nirvana, Linkin Park, Guns N' Roses, and The Beatles.
