Is Kevin Hart's True Story series based on his life?

Given the crime thriller's title, it isn't hard to see why fans would think that True Story is based on Hart's real life.

As he is also portraying someone in the limelight, many have thought Hart is simply portraying himself in the series.

However, this isn't the case as the series has been largely fictionalised.

Therefore, no, Netflix's True Story is not basedon the comedian's life.

True Story doesn't come from the mind of Hart's, nor is it based on a book or anyone else's real-life experiences.

The thriller was written by EricNewman who came up with its premise.

So while some fans would find it entertaining for there to be some truth in the plot, it appears there isn't any.

But according to the New York Times, Hart's life hasn't been completely without drama.

Talking about Hart, the article reads: 'True Story' is largely fictionalised, but Hart's real-life has not lacked for drama.

"He is only two years removed from a car accident in which he sustained major back injuries, requiring surgery and rehabilitation, and which he has said left him a changed man."

So perhaps it was this drama that inspired Hart to pursue his career in the thriller genre.

True Story is available to watch on Netflix.
