Who qualified for Premier League 2023?

The 2022-23 Premier League field is set.

Thanks to a Huddersfield Town own goal, Nottingham Forest earned the 20th and final spot in English soccer’s top flight for next season with a 1-0 victory in the EFL Championship promotion playoff final on Sunday.

The triumph ends a 23-year drought without Premier League soccer for the Tricky Trees, who are one of the league’s founding members.

Nottingham Forest won’t be the only new club moving up to the Premier League for the 2022-23 campaign either.

Which teams were promoted to the Premier League for the 2022-23 season?

Nottingham Forest joins Fulham and Bournemouth as the three Championship sides that have been promoted to the Premier League. After being relegated last season, Fulham were crowned champions of the Championship, earning promotion in the process. The Cottagers now have the task of staying up, as they haven’t played consecutive Premier League seasons since 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Premier League announces dates for the 2023-24 campaign... with the season due to start just EIGHT WEEKS after the Champions League final and finish less than a month before Euro 2024

  • The Premier League has announced the dates for the 2023-2024 league season
  • Top flight clubs are set to kick off their campaigns on the weekend of August 12
  • A mid-season winter break features, before the campaign concludes on May 19

The Premier League has announced the dates for the 2023-24 season, with the league campaign set to start on August 12, leaving a gap of 76 days from the current season concluding on May 28.

It will mark a return to normality for the schedule following three seasons of disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the World Cup taking place in Qatar this winter.

The season will end on May 19 2024, meaning players who are involved in the Champions League final on June 1 at Wembley, will have fewer than two weeks to prepare for Euro 2024, which kicks off on June 14, while other Premier League players will have under four weeks.

The August 12 start date for next season will allow clubs to have seven weeks from the post-season international break concluding on June 20.

They will have even further from the final Premier League weekend, while the Champions League final on 10 June takes place eight weeks before the start date.

This may allow clubs to undertake lucrative pre-season tours which have been hampered over recent seasons.

Opening weekend dates have been disrupted over previous years with the 2020-21 campaign not kicking off until September 12 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the delayed conclusion to the 2019-20 season.

2021-22 began on August 14 following Euro 2020, which was pushed back by a year, before this season got underway on August 6.

If England qualify for Euro 2024, Gareth Southgate's players will have fewer than four weeks to prepare following the conclusion of the Premier League season

The league's final Gameweek on May 19 will see all games kick off simultaneously as is the usual custom.

The Premier League also noted that in order to address the congested schedule over the festive period, no two rounds within this time frame will take place within 48 hours of each other.

There is also the mid-season winter break - which will take place between 13-20 January.

This took place last year after being absent during the 2020-21 calendar but many players were still playing due to the rearranged schedule and international fixtures for certain countries, including the African Cup of Nations.

The current Premier League campaign is set to conclude on Sunday May 28.

Who is promoted to the Premier League 2023?

Twenty teams are competing in the league – the top seventeen teams from the previous season and the three teams promoted from the Championship.
