Shiseido dark spot Corrector review

Where I got it: I got this at a Facebook makeup group auction for $30! What a bargain! This is RRP$189.00 for 30ml, $249.00 for 50ml!

What I got: This is a 30ml bottle of Shiseido White Lucent MicroTargeting Spot Corrector. This intensive anti-spot serum helps diminish the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation for skin that looks perfectly translucent. It thoroughly targets various types of spots; from those that are particularly dark and defined to the scattered, smaller spots that are blurred and widely distributed over the face. Can also be used before and after brightening cosmetic procedures such as laser spot removal.

  • MicroTarget Technology intensively targets each spot to help diminish their appearance.
  • Features SAKURAResist Technology with Sakura from Japanese cherry blossoms to help skin become resistant to dark spot appearance.
  • In 2 weeks 73% of consumers felt the serum was effective on visible dark spots but also scattered spots like tiny spots and blurred spots.**
  • In 12 weeks 81% felt the serum was superior in reducing scattered dark spots than spot removal lasers**

Shiseido White Lucent MicroTargeting Spot Corrector

How I find it: I use 2 pumps of this serum after I cleanse and tone my face. I also mix in 2 drops of my Paula’s Choice 10% Niacinamide booster with this serum and just apply all over my face. I use this day and night and apply moisturiser afterwards. It is absorbed pretty fast and is really fresh and soft to the touch. No greasy feeling at all and does not leave a film on the skin. However as this is a spot corrector, I think I will only use it to areas instead of all over the face to really prolong the use of this bottle. I have acne scarring but not much sun spots or dark spots, so hopefully it will help with lightening some of my pigmentation from old blemishes!

Shiseido White Lucent MicroTargeting Spot Corrector

Overall: So I have been using this for a few weeks now and I do notice a reduction in the pigmentation of new blemish scars, but the older, deeper scars are still quite stubborn. It will need a much longer time of use to get any substantial results for those. However, I really love the texture and the scent of this serum – it is lightweight and absorbs easily into the skin. It doesn’t leave any residue and no stickiness at all. I only need one pump for the entire face and this bottle will last me at least 4-5 months I think. Love the bottle design – the pretty pink and silver mirror-effect bottle and the airless pump ensures the efficacy and hygiene of the product. Shiseido never fails to impress and has been a great brand for my skin.

Shiseido White Lucent MicroTargeting Spot Corrector (Serum) $175.

This new product from the elegant Shiseido line is inspired by the latest cosmetic advancements, and draws on Asian brightening solutions, such as the Double Strike PROApproachx2, and SAKURAResist Technology with Sakura from Japanese cherry blossoms. The product line is said to target spots with laser speed and to resist the appearance of spots over time.

The intensive anti-spot serum claims to help diminish the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation, and to target various types of spots, like those that are particularly dark and defined as well as the scattered, smaller, blurry spots that are widely distributed over the face. It is dermatologist tested and can also be used before and after brightening cosmetic procedures such as laser spot removal.

White Lucent MultiBright Night Cream $90.

Another new product in the line, MultiBright Night takes advantage of Shiseido’s advanced research on the skin’s activity at night. The result is this breakthrough intensive multi-functional brightening night cream that helps reduce the appearance of dark spots and acne scars. Discover renewed, perfectly radiant, hydrated-looking skin the next morning. MultiBright Technology focuses on skin’s nighttime cycle to help address the appearance of various spots and the SAKURA Resist Technology with Sakura from Japanese cherry blossoms to help skin become resistant to dark spot appearance. It can also be used as an overnight treatment mask for dramatic brightening benefits.

White Lucent Luminizing Surge (Emulsion) $60.

By creating an invisible veil to protect skin, this emulsion delivers a surge of intensive ingredients to diminish signs of dark spots and prevent their recurrence. The product also contains Luminizing Surge Technology with exclusive 4MSK brightening ingredient, which is said to “protect skin from external aggressors while creating natural luminosity.”  If it is used during the day, it should be followed with sun protection.

White Lucent Luminizing Infuser (Softener) $50.

According to Shiseido, using the infuser will make skin “feel fully hydrated” and stress free. And the product helps skin become more receptive to additional brightening treatments.

I decided to review all the products together, after using them in various combinations for a couple of weeks. First of all, it must be said that the packaging is divine and sleek; just having them in your bathroom is a visual treat. And I liked the textures of the formulas, which were light and glossy. The serum had a translucent quality and surge had a pearly sheen. The infuser is almost clear and even the night cream, arguably the richest of the formulas, is more of an apricot gel than a true cream.

I will also say that I found the array of products a little redundant. I personally would not apply all products in a day. But what I did discover, through experimenting, was that the spot correcting serum used twice daily, and the night cream once, was a good combo for my skin, and I did notice a slight lightening of certain dark spots that are the consequence of a heedless youth spent baking in the sun. The literature says that after twelve weeks, results are even more pronounced, so I will continue using the products with the hope of seeing even greater improvement. These products don’t come cheap, but since they address dark spots in a way few others do, they are worth it.

Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion for Sensitive Skin & Children Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ $42.00.

Shiseido’s Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion is now formulated with ingredients selected especially targeted to sensitive skin and children’s delicate skin. This “superior mineral-based, high-protection sunscreen” boasts a low-irritant formula that also features the brand’s exclusive WetForce technology so it becomes even more powerful when the applied area is exposed to water or perspiration for 15 minutes. It’s also formulated with aloe extract, which is known for its soothing effect. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are physical sunscreen agents that provide mineral-based protection.

Paraben-free, alcohol-free, PABA-free, fragrance-free and chemical sunscreen agent-free, the product is also dermatologist tested, ophthalmologist tested and hypoallergenic.

I used this on a few occasions when I would be out in the sun and working up a sweat on a power walk. The white formula is a liquid, not a paste, so it’s easy to apply. It gives great coverage but is also very gentle; even when I got it near my eyes, it did not cause them to burn, run or water the way many sunscreens do. Definitely keeping this one in my bag for summer!
