Melano cc vitamin c lotion review

Side note: Lotion [ローシヨン] is also called “keshosui” [化粧水], which literally means “cosmetics water”. It’s a general term for the first skincare liquid you apply after washing your face, which includes astringent toners.

If you find your normal-combination skin could use an extra boost in the dark spot-fading department then this very inexpensive watery lotion would be a good one to try. The formula features vitamin C and Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate so it’s brightening and anti-inflammatory as well as providing a little hydration hit. It’s also handy as an aftersun to help skin to repair and prevent the formation of dark spots.

Melano CC Anti-Spot White Lotion is not the kind of product that’s going to single-handedly improve your skin overnight, but as a post-cleanse first step, it’s quite lovely. Refreshing, slightly hydrating, and brightening. The scent of it does nothing for me, so I’d rather it wasn’t there at all, but you can’t have everything.

You can find it online for US$11.14+ at Amazon USA or US$16.05+ at YesStyle — it’s 170ml. Refill pouch is also available.

What it does: A toner that works to reduce dark spots on the skin. Contains vitamin C and is formulated to rapidly enter through / penetrate the skin. Prevents dark spots and freckles. Contains moisturising ingredients: Cardamom seeds, Grape yeast and Lemon extract Essence.

Suitable for: Sensitive / dry and dehydrated skin

Those with an uneven skin tone and dark spots

-I wanted to get something that would help the dark spots on my cheeks / chin and forehead from past acne.

Directions: After cleansing, take appropriate amount on the hand or cotton pad, gently tapping the face

How I use it: I applied this onto a pad and swiped my face after cleansing.

You apparently should see results in 2 weeks and should last 6 months if you use 5-6 drops a day

Texture: Naar water-y. Extremely light and transparent – just like the Hada Labo Gokyujun Lotion! [however this does not pill/ball up for me the same way their gokyujun lotion did].

Key Ingredients: Penetrates deeply due to having 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid [supposed to fade freckles, acne marks and blemishes]. Also contains dipotassium glycyrrhizate [Liquorice root extract] known to be anti-inflammatory. Also contains Ginger-lily which is Alpinia katsumadai which is moisturising

Full list of ingredients: Actives: 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid [high-penetration Vitamin C derivative], dipotassium glycyrrhizate. Other ingredients: Ascorbic acid [Vitamin C], grapefruit extract, lemon extract, I-menthol, ginger-lily [Alpinia katsumadai] seed extract, butylene glycol, anhydrous ethanol, concentrated glycerin, polyoxypropylene methyl glucoside, silicone solution blend, ethanol, polyoxyethylene-dimethicone copolymer, dipropylene glycol, polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene dimethicone copolymer, dimethicone, methylphenyl polysiloxane, bis-ethoxydiglycol cyclohexane dicarboxylate, polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene decyltetradecyl ether, paraben, sodium citrate, anhydrous citric acid, xanthan gum, disodium EDTA, fragrance.

Good under makeup?: Yes, it’s fine as it’s pretty-much water.

Fragrance?: Yes – don’t like the smell too much and I don’t think the fragrance was necessary. This lotion has a citrus-y smell that reminds me of medicine you drink when you’re a kid

What I like:

  • Didn’t irritate my skin
  • Water-like, so this meant it was fine under makeup and absorbed fairly quickly.
  • Hydrated my skin

What I don’t like:

  • I honestly didn’t see too much of a difference in my skin, if any [i.e. the change in PIH]
  • Kind of a weird near citrus-y fragrance [I didn’t want the fragrance in anyway]

Overall Score: 3/5 – I give this a 3 because although this didn’t do much to my skin, it was absolutely hydrating and didn’t irritate my skin

Conclusion: An overall ok toner. I didn’t have the most amazing experience with it, but it is appreciated that this did not irritate/aggravate my skin further.

Would I repurchase?: No. I prefer the vitamin C from Drunk Elephant and even serums from the ordinary.
