If you happen to have Android Auto 3.0, you should take a look at issue

116 or, alternatively, uninstall Android Auto, install version 2.9 or below, disable automatic updates, install the app by modifying the package name [APK Editor or App Cloner] and re-activate unknown sources

Keep also in mind that app has to be used on a car, and has to be started on the latest icon, and not the one with headphones.

Do we have any limitations with latest android version Nougat. I was using this car stream successfully, and suddenly stopped working after having this latest version. What to do. I tried uninstalling and installing android auto 2.9 and car stread 1.8.3 through app cloner app and changed the package name. But still getting"NO Items" and same click on last icon. Please help me on this.

It's not about Android version. Google killed it with Google Play Services

do we have any solution. I have installed android auto 2.9 and carstream as well. But still getting no items. will this work if I degrade my version to 7 ile nugat from oreo

Hello, everyone. Everything starts with one version of Android auto 2.9574923-release. If you have any questions I will answer in details.

Conseguir fazer funcionar o carstream e aamirror, foi necessário remover o google play service 12.5 e instalar uma versão anterior 12.20, usei a versão do Android auto 2.9, versão 1.83 do carstream com alteração do manifest e desabilitar a atualização automática dos app, se a atualização automática estiver habilitada o google play service vai ser atualizada e será necessário remover e instalar a versão 12.20 novamente e não pode esquecer de habilitar fontes desconhecida no android auto.

What do I do if I'm not able to download 2.9 or below for Android auto? My pho e will not allow it. It still says to hit icon at bottom of screen. Am I able to still use YouTube on Android auto or no?

The carstream app needs update because it's not compatible with the new version of AndroidAuto

I have the same problem. Written CLIC LAST ICON IN BUTTOM BAR and youtube auto has no possibility to CONNECT TO CAR. Some idea?

This has been already answered with a workaround here: It's very old tho, so I'm not sure if it will work. Edit: Ok it doesnt work, tried it with version 2.9, but it doesnt want to start because "cannot update" :[

IT WORKS!!! So I figured out the working setup [February 2021]. Steps:

• You need rooted phone
• Download AndroidAuto version less than 6.0 on your phone, because some additional app blocking were added in 6. So I removed the latest and downloaded version 5.9 [5.9.604643-release], download it e.g. from apkmirror.
• Start Android auto and go to settings. Enable unknown sources [by clicking 10 times on version, and then going into the "3 dot menu"->Developer settings->Unknown sources]
• Donwload the latest available CarStream apk from this forum [latest available at the time writing this was 2.0.5]: //forum.xda-developers.com/t/carstream-aka-youtube-auto-working-with-update-phone-w-root.3807207/post-83603693
• Start CarStream and from the menu choose "Unlock [root]", allow it, then reboot the phone
• Go to your car and enjoy!
