Innisfree cleansing oil green tea review

I have been double cleansing for more than 2 years now. Cleansing balms and oils are LOVE to me. I know, double cleansing can be overwhelming for some, and that is why we will talk about it elaborately in this post. Simultaneously, I’ll also share my thoughts on Innisfree Green Tea cleansing oil.

Price: The cleansing oil retails for Rs.1400 and we get 150ml product. This is a reasonable deal for us because options for cleansing oils/balms are comparatively less in India.

Availability:

  • At Innisfree stores & few Nykaa stores as well.
  • Online at various e-commerce websites.

I got mine from Nykaa. To purchase click here.

What is double cleansing?

Double cleansing means cleaning the face twice, first with an oil based product then with a water based product (in very simple terms). The first step would be using a micellar water/bi-phased makeup remover/cleansing cream/oil/balm. The second step would be using a facewash. Double cleansing makes sure every trace of makeup, pollution, dirt has been removed. (You’ll feel yourself that your face is squeaky clean without being dry.)

Contrary to the belief, double cleansing is not just only for removing makeup. By the end of the day, your facial skin accumulates lots of dirt, grime & its own sebum in addition to sunscreen, skincare & makeup. All of this should be cleaned before going to bed. A conventional micellar water/bi-phase makeup remover will not be able to remove all these. Hence, double cleansing!

Ingredient list There are 2 types of cleansing oils ~

  • one which needs to be wiped with a damp cloth or cotton pad after rubbing. This leaves an oily residue.
  • second which upon adding some water emulsifies (turns milky) and washes away. This doesn’t leave an oily residue, mostly.

Innisfree Green Tea cleansing oil belongs to the second category.

There are certain ingredients that may break you out so please do a patch test first before applying the oil all over your face. Patch test means use the product on a small area usually on jaw line or just below the cheek area and then observe for 24-48 hours whether any reaction/breakouts occur. If not, you can use the product without any problem.

Stubborn makeup – Liquid lipstick, liquid highlighter, liquid eyeshadow, kajal, waterproof eyeliner

How to use?
  • Take a pump or two and massage the oil directly on dry face, including eyes and lips.
  • Massage gently for good 30 seconds or so (or till the makeup is completely broken down and you look like a clown). Your face will be covered with oil at this point.
  • Take some water in your hands and then again massage. The oil upon contact with water starts turning milky. Massage a little extra on eyelids and lips if your makeup is stubborn.
  • Splash water on face and completely wash away the milky liquid which was formed in last step.
  • Follow up with a facewash and your face will be super clean!

    Consistency of the cleansing oil

For makeup lovers like me, Innisfree Green Tea cleansing oil is a boon. It removes even water-proof mascaras which are otherwise very difficult to remove completely. It also removes stubborn matte lipsticks and leaves no stain behind.

As far as cleansing oils are concerned, there is absolutely no necessity of extracts or actives in them because at the end of the day, all shall go in the drain.

My verdict on Innisfree Green Tea cleansing oil:

Needless to mention, I love this cleansing oil to bits. It feels like a light-weight oil with good amount of slip, doesn’t feel heavy like conventional oils. I can remove my most stubborn makeup and sunscreen with ease, without any excessive rubbing or tugging the skin. I make sure to use it every single night, whether I’ve worn makeup or not. It is equally important to remove sunscreen too which sometimes a facewash can’t remove on its own. Innisfree Green Tea cleansing oil hasn’t broken me out or caused any kind of irritation. It doesn’t irritate or sting my eyes. I usually don’t open my eyes while cleansing but those who do might feel their eye-sight becoming hazy , which goes away once water is splashed. Nothing uncomfortable though!

Post wash – bare skin with no traces of makeup

Pros:
  • Very effective in removing sunscreen and stubborn makeup
  • Gentle on the skin, no tugging or pulling, no rubbing with cotton pads
  • A little goes a long way
  • Didn’t irritate my skin or caused breakouts
  • Doesn’t sting the eyes
Cons:
  • The cost is definitely on the pricier side. I admit!
  • Contains fragrance (can cause irritation to some)
  • Definitely not safe for people having fungal acne

I’d still recommend you try cleansing oils in general if not Innisfree Green Tea cleansing oil. They’ll change your PM routine game, for sure.

I have shown a little demo on how to incorporate this cleansing oil in your routine. Do watch it on my IGTV here.
