Free Spotify playlist submission Reddit

Hi there guys!

We just recently started this project - PlaylistSubs. We accept submissions for our Spotify playlist. And it´s totally free and always will be! We do not sell any spots!

We do this because we are artists too and we know the struggle to get your music heard. So feel free to send us your songs, new or old, black metal or EDM, it doesn´t matter ;-]

Our current acceptance rate is between 60-70%, but it will very likely drop in near future, so don´t hesitate ;-]

Here are the links:
Twitter: //twitter.com/PlaylistSubs
Website: //playlistsubs.weebly.com/
Submission Form: //toneden.io/playlistsubs/post/song-submission-to-playlistsubs/

Please be sure you follow our playlist and if you get in, stream your playlist [at least once in a while, ideally once in a day or more ;-]]. That´s because if we want to trigger Spotify algorithms, we need to...you know...trigger it LOL

Currently the best spots generate between 5-10 real streams a day. Not much, but we started with this project 14 days ago. It grows incredibly fast, beyond our wildest expectations! :-]

Feel free to ask questions, tell us your ideas and experience!

Wee look forward to hear from you ;-]

As an independent musician with limited recognition, I've found getting added to Playlists on Spotify to be one of the better ways to promote my band's music. Here is how I've approached the process of finding playlists.

[1] Search in Spotify for Genre + [some variation of "new"]

You want to find Playlists that are focusing on new tracks. So if you're Genre is Rock, try searching for "Rock New", "Rock Fresh", "Rock Unreleased", "Rock Underground". This is a great starting point to uncover Playlists that are likely to include new artists.

[2] Use the "Discovered On" section in the Artist profile

Within the About page of an Artist profile, there will be a "Discovered On" section that lists out various Playlists this artist is on. I suggest finding some indie bands that are in your Genre, and looking at which Playlists they have been added to.

[3] Don't ignore Playlists that have fewer than 100 followers

Sure 100 followers doesn't seem that impressive. But you never know who those followers are. One of those followers may be the owner of a Playlist with many more followers. Or they may have a blog and end up writing about your track. So don't disregard Playlists with "low" follower counts. Ultimately I'm trying to find that "sweet spot" of a Playlist that has followers, is accepting submissions, and doesn't have too many tracks.

[4] Submithub.com

This is a paid service that lets you buy "credits" and use those credits to submit to playlist owners of your choosing. A major plus is that you're contacting folks that are actively looking for submissions. And you'll also get feedback if you're track is not selected. I've had "ok" success, I'd say out of all my submissions about 10-15% will result in placement on a Playlist. It's not great, but it's another tool in the tool chest!

[5] Google/Bing/DuckDuckGo it

I primarily try to search for Blogs or Music Review sites in my Genre with this method. One advantage is if you land on the website of the Playlist owner, you'll likely be able to get their contact information from the site. I'll also try searching for some variation of "best upcoming Spotify [insert genre here] Playlists". This may return various "top 10" kind of blog posts that could generate some leads.

[6] Get organized

Organize the Playlists you find in a spreadsheet. Given the huge volume of Playlists out there you can easily lose track of them.

As an example of how I do it, here are 10 Spotify Playlists that I've found using the methods above. Check it out and feel free to submit your music to them as well!

While playlist submissions is a proven strategy to build a strong presence on streaming sites and reach more listeners, it gets really difficult to come across a free playlist submission these days. There are many playlist curators out there in the market today, all hungry for money and not really supporting indie artists in their journey. But this article is not about them. It’s about few Spotify playlist curators who believe in free music submission and are dedicated towards supporting independent artists.

Here a few awesome curators that are offering independent artists an opportunity to submit to some of the best independent Spotify playlists out there.
