Update: The 2023 Ford Super Duty has been officially revealed. You can catch all the details in our full first-look reveal story.

Earlier this week, the Instagram account @Alumiduty showed off some leaked photos from the plant and spy video of the 2023 Ford Super Duty pickup truck. We already knew that the redesign was coming, but these shots solidify that this truck will be a 2023 model, and we’ll likely see the reveal soon.

In terms of what else we know about this next-gen heavy-duty truck, well, at this point it’s a guessing game. But here’s what we think we know.

New grille and headlights

The shots revealed on the insta account are heavily camouflaged – except for the grille. So we get a good look at the new expanse that appears to be more ruggedly simple. However, with its lack of chrome, we can likely assume the grille we see here is on a more base-trimmed truck.

The bigger takeaway: The new headlight design, which mirror the design of the headlights of the recently redesigned F-150. You see the LED C-Clamp daytime running lights on the outer edges with the [presumably] LED headlights within the black grille loops.

While we can’t see much of the body and back windows, it looks like the taillights will also be an evolution of the current F-150 taillights. And if the tailgate of the F-150 is anything to go buy, we’ll see bolder embossed Super Duty lettering between the lights.

Teched-out interior likely

As we saw with both the gas F-150 and the F-150 Lightning, Ford appears to be digitalizing all the things and making screens B-I-G. While Ford lacks any consistency in terms of screen sizes, we think the recent screens in the F-150 Lightning will be the likeliest scenario with a smaller [but still large] landscape screen for base trims, with the overly large portrait screen being available or standard as you level up.

We’ll also likely see a digital cluster on upper trims, with an analog gauges standard on XL and XLT trims.

Ford will also make sure the latest Sync 4, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and cloud-based connectivity are included at all levels.

Powertrains and a potential hybrid?

One thing seems fairly certain in the powertrain arena: The Super Duty will keep the diesel. This news was revealed by Automotive News back in 2021. But outside of that, we assume there will be at least one well-powered V-8.

The big question, however, is if Ford will add a PowerBoost hybrid option. With more automakers making the move toward electrification [Ford included], we see this as a viable option, especially considering the worksite implications with Pro Power Onboard.

Other takeaways from F-150?

As we point out in our YouTube video, we think there will be several other items pulled from the redesigned F-150 over to the Super Duty. In addition to Pro Power Onboard [regardless of whether there’s a hybrid or not], we think we’ll see Zone Lighting, Blue Cruise and Onboard Scales.

The bottom line on the 2023 Ford Super Duty

While we don’t have much definitive information, with the leaks starting, we anticipate concrete details coming soon. Similar to the next-gen F-150, the 2023 Super Duty will get smoothed-out styling, lots of cool tech and a fair amount of practicality thrown into the mix.
